What is Verkada Sound Systems?
Verkada Sound Systems is a cloud-managed audio product line: PoE network speakers and network audio players that play licensed background music and deliver announcements, all controlled from the same Verkada Command dashboard used for cameras, access control and alarms. Music streams through a built-in Soundtrack integration, so there is no separate media player or licensing agreement to manage.
Can we keep the speakers and amplifiers we already have?
Usually, yes. Network audio players (NP21 and NP81) connect existing amplifiers and speakers to Command through standard balanced and RCA line-level connections, so a Hawaii hotel, store or campus can move to cloud-managed audio without replacing every speaker. New zones can be added with plug-and-play network speakers as budget allows.
Is the background music commercially licensed?
Yes. Sound Systems streams Soundtrack's commercially licensed catalog directly inside Command — tens of millions of tracks cleared for business use, with playlists that refresh regularly. That removes the licensing exposure of playing consumer streaming services in a public space.
How does audio tie into security?
Verkada network speakers can automatically play warning messages when a camera detects loitering or other suspicious activity after hours, extending the deterrence that live video monitoring and alarm horn speakers already provide. Announcements can also be triggered by staff from the Desk Station app with a single tap during an incident.
