All the modern options: encrypted key cards and badges, key fobs, PIN codes, mobile NFC — tap an iPhone, Android, or watch, including Apple Wallet — and Bluetooth unlock through the Verkada Pass app. Gates can use license-plate recognition entry, and administrators can remotely lock or unlock any door from the web or mobile dashboard at any time.
What does a door access control project in Hawaii involve, and how long does it take?

You lose remote unlock and live dashboard access until then, nothing more. For sites with unreliable service, a cellular gateway keeps the dashboard reachable.
Is key card access control still worth it, or should we go mobile-only?
Both run on the same reader, so you don't have to choose. Key cards and fobs are still the right call for staff who don't carry a work phone, for shared credentials such as a cleaning crew, and for schools that issue badges anyway. Mobile credentials (Apple Wallet, Android NFC and Bluetooth through the Verkada Pass app) cut lost-card replacements and let you issue access remotely to a new hire or a neighbor-island site.
