Security Anywhere, Even Off the Grid

Cellular gateways bring cloud security to places without network infrastructure — construction sites, agricultural land, parking lots, and remote facilities across the islands.

Remote Connectivity — Verkada solution provided by USP in Hawaii
Capabilities

What you get with remote connectivity

LTE Connectivity

Run cameras and sensors over cellular where there's no internet.

Rapid Deployment

Stand up site security in hours, not weeks of trenching and cabling.

Construction-Ready

Protect equipment and materials on jobsites between build phases — see our Hawaii construction site security guide.

Move It When Done

Redeploy hardware to the next site when the project wraps.

Pairs with Live Monitoring

Add remote guarding for full overnight protection of remote sites.

Island-Practical

Ideal for Hawaii's agricultural land, harbors, and distributed facilities.

Why It Matters

Built for Hawaii. Backed by USP.

  • No trenching required. Skip the cost of running fiber to remote corners of your property.
  • Battery & solar options. Flexible power for truly off-grid deployments.
  • Same Command platform. Remote sites appear right alongside your main facilities.
  • One unified platform. Remote Connectivity integrates with every other Verkada product in Command.
  • Built for neighbor-island sites. Baseyards, ag operations and job sites without a usable connection stay online over cellular — see our guide to security systems for Maui businesses.

FAQ

Remote connectivity in Hawaii — common questions

What is a cellular gateway, and when does a Hawaii site need one?

A cellular gateway connects Verkada cameras, sensors, and door controllers to the cloud over LTE instead of a wired internet line. You need one when a site has power but no usable network — a construction jobsite, a baseyard in Kapolei or Kahului, agricultural land, a harbor facility, or a remote county lot. Sites with no power at all can use the solar-powered CR63-E LTE camera instead.

Does remote connectivity work without power?

The gateway itself needs a power source, and battery and solar configurations are available for truly off-grid locations. For camera-only coverage with no power, the Verkada CR63-E remote camera runs on solar or DC with a built-in backup battery and its own dual-SIM LTE modem, so it needs neither a gateway nor a power drop.

Is cellular bandwidth in Hawaii enough for security cameras?

Usually, yes. Verkada cameras record and process video on the device and only stream to the cloud when someone is watching or an event needs review, so a remote site uses far less bandwidth than a traditional NVR system pushing constant video. During the free site assessment USP checks carrier coverage at your actual location — including neighbor-island and windward sites where signal varies — before recommending hardware.

Can we move the equipment to the next project?

Yes. Gateways and remote cameras are designed to redeploy. When a project phase or job wraps, the hardware goes to the next site and appears in the same Command dashboard under the new location, alongside every other property you manage.

Can a remote site have live monitoring and alarms too?

Yes. Because remote sites run on the same cloud platform, they can use the same live video monitoring with talk-down deterrence, video-verified alarms, and AI alerts as your main facility. Remote monitoring is the most common pairing for overnight protection of jobsites and equipment yards.

Does USP install the gateways and cameras?

No — USP is not a licensed contractor. We assess the site, confirm cellular coverage, design the system, and quote hardware and licensing, then refer mounting and cabling to licensed, low-voltage Hawaii contractor partners. Once the hardware is up, USP handles configuration, commissioning, and training.
